"I celebrated my 10th business anniversary with an Open House. The focus for our celebration was a fundraiser for World's Window and the Women's Empowerment Project, an international service campaign to provide sewing machines for a village in Zimbabwe. Bartel Communications secured feature-story coverage about me and the project with the Times Union and the Clifton Park Spotlight. This publicity resulted in a large attendance at the Open House and considerable monies collected for this worthy cause. Bartel Communications' strategy of using my corporate anniversary as a means to promote my business turned out to be right on target and generated significant interest from people I would not have reached otherwise."

"Pauline's goal is to make her clients successful while providing the highest possible return on the investment. She is intuitive, insightful, smart, creative, forthright, honest, kind,  and a straight shooter. Pauline's professionalism and talent position the client for fast-track success, while she graciously applauds from the sidelines. Pauline makes every client feel special, giving 100% and more. Pauline gets 'it' -- whatever the client's 'it' may be. I find it challenging to describe a professional relationship/service that has had such a dramatic, across-the-board impact on my business."

"I thought our session was very productive. Your ability to get the creative juices flowing through brainstorming is a great asset. Your questions about an idea develop the marketing strategy into a plan that is workable. There are so many ways to market a company that are not mundane and usual, and I think you have the ability to find and develop those marketing avenues."

I believe that everybody has a book inside them. In fact, I had written 25 pages of a book about the mechanics of prospecting, but I didn't know what to do next. Then I heard a presentation by Pauline Bartel of Bartel Communications, Inc., about her writing and editing services, and I knew I had to talk to her about my book. Pauline turned out to be a great resource, so I hired her. Using my manuscript as a starting point, she organized my rambling thoughts into a coherent outline; presented what I wanted to say in a clear, concise style that actually sounded like me; and turned into reality my book, Generate New Business: A Practical Guide to Setting (and Getting!) Appointments. Pauline was the perfect person for this project!

"I can't thank you enough for the outstanding job you did in publicizing the news about my being named REALTOR of the Year" by the Greater Capital Association of REALTORS.

I was pleased when The Business Review picked up the story for their "Daily Update" on-line edition and delighted when the story and my photograph appeared in their print edition as well. The Sunday Gazette, Spotlight, and Times Union ran the story, too. The latest appearance of the news in the Albany Chamber's magazine, Visions, was the icing on the cake! (My colleagues noticed, too.) Thank you!

I remain one of your biggest fans."

"Many, many thanks for your excellent presentation! "Writing & Selling Your Book" was everything faculty participants had hoped for and more. Faculty were most appreciative of your careful organization, purposeful use of time, and clear handouts. They took special note of your ability to answer their varied questions both directly and insightfully and to tailor your comments to the needs of individual participants.

Your presentation coincided with a busy phase in the college's academic year, and attendees clearly felt that their time was well spent. Faculty left with renewed energy and enthusiasm about the possibilities for their writing -- what more could one ask of a workshop?! Thank you!"

"As a result of flooding that occurred in New York State between May and August 2000, a Presidential declaration of disaster targeted 28 counties to receive federal assistance to repair public facilities. At the Disaster Field Office in Albany, New York, Ms. Pauline Bartel was employed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in August 2000 to plan and prepare a brochure of 'Mitigation Success Stories' in New York State. This project was part of a community outreach program to motivate local communities to plan and implement mitigation measures that would reduce flood damage in future events. It was identified as a high-priority project by the Federal Coordinating Officer.

Although the conceptual parameters of the Hazard Mitigation Program were new to Ms. Bartel, she quickly absorbed the relevant program information and led a team of mitigation specialists in the preparation of a four-color brochure. The resulting brochure was a high-quality professional product that was highly appropriate for the targeted audience and has received outstanding reviews from local, state and Federal officials.

Ms. Bartel's expertise and professionalism were key ingredients in this very successful project, and FEMA is grateful for the opportunity to have had Ms. Bartel as a member of the Mitigation team."

"What a relief it was to be able to pick up the phone and have you say 'yes' to taking on the daunting task of rewriting a first draft manuscript almost from scratch, and for you to complete the project on an impossible schedule of four weeks. The rewritten manuscript reviewed not only well within the marketplace, which is our main goal at Delmar to secure the sale, but also pleased the author of the original first draft on the first read."

"Pauline Bartel has her finger on the pulse of the press. Through only brief work with Pauline, I was able to secure two full-page newspaper stories with photos about my work. I expect that these stories will lead to increased business. I look forward to using Pauline's services to continue bringing my services to public awareness. She delivers."

"I feel fortunate to have access to the book marketing services of Bartel Communications. I particularly appreciate Pauline Bartel's knowledge of the ways to market a book outside of the traditional venues. Even more important for me has been Pauline's guidance on how to approach potential buyers and publicity personnel within the publishing industry so the outcome is a win/win situation for all involved."

"I signed up for your beginning book course to add some diversity to my life, have a little fun, and perhaps pick up a practical point or two about the publishing industry. The fact that ten months later Simon & Schuster offered me a contract and cash advance on the basis of the proposal that I conceptualized and developed during your course continues to astound me. After years of toying with the idea of publishing a book, and a couple more of writing and invariably being rejected or more likely just being ignored, it was a joyous discovery to recognize that the seemingly impenetrable world of publishing can indeed be accessed. As I learned from your tutelage, success in publishing comes down to an understanding of what is commercially marketable, crystallizing what it is that you have to say, and putting together a proposal that will impress.

Even though I now understand the process of putting together a book proposal and query letter, I could not have managed it the first time around without your solid professional advice and enthusiastic support. I have great respect for your commitment to your students and will always be grateful to you for helping me come to believe in the plausibility of publishing success."

"I have been a writer and editor all my professional life, but I knew nothing about developing and marketing a book proposal until I took your course. Still, I was not prepared to strike out on my own. Your unflagging optimism and support and your technical knowledge about the publishing industry made the difference. With you in my corner, how could I lose! I can honestly say that I wouldn't have done it without you."

"Writing a book is a very challenging undertaking, as it was for someone like me, having no professional experience. I began writing my book, Baseball In Dutchess County - When It Was A Game, in 1994. It was quite an ordeal and a success story that would never have happened without the assistance of Pauline Bartel. She was my mentor and inspiration along that bumpy road. Her encouragement from the very beginning gave me the confidence I needed to continue my long journey to success. Pauline Bartel is a very professional, understanding, and helpful person. Her class, "How To Write & Sell Your Book," is a must for every aspiring author."

"Working with Pauline is the best thing I've done to get my writing going. I got my first article published four months after taking Pauline's course. She taught me how to pitch an article successfully and how to approach editors with confidence. Thank you, Pauline!"
